Les Nouvelles Folies Françaises is a collective show curated by Patrick Amine with the works of Lee Bae, Pascal Bernier, Marc Boulet & Lin Yu, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, Loris Cecchini, Hervé Di Rosa, Pascal Dombis & Gil Percal, Joël Ducorroy, Jan Fabre, Jean-Pierre Formica, Dario Ghibaudo, Rainer Gross, Fabrice Langlade, Jérémie Lippmann, Wesley Meuris, Côme Mosta-Heirt, Vincent Olinet, Samuel Rousseau, Yu Sung Il, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Valentin van der Meulen, Jan Van Oost, Bob Verschueren, Joachim Vandenhurk and Moochew Wong.

ENG. As part of the Le Nôtre year, the park and the National Archeology Museum of Saint-Germain-en-Laye are invested by 26 international contemporary artists. The exhibition, curated by the essayist and art critic Patrick Amine, invites spectators to explore the royal domain through in situ installations. Les « Nouvelles folies françaises » - New French follies, or installations, sculptures, take part in dialogue with the landscape of the park. These artists' proposals read as a tribute to Le Nôtre but also as a new poetics of the garden and nature. In the park of the castle, a new contemporary imagination invites you to a new walk. Some works appear as properly artistic and offbeat follies, others are perfectly integrated in the area.
In the castle and in the National Archeology Museum, the art pieces introduce a personal perception of contemporary artists on the domain and in particular on Le Nôtre, landscape architect, creator of the park.
In the chapel of the museum, Valentin Van der Meulen presents a large size charcoal drawing, through the process of erasing perform. More than referring to the general work of Le Nôtre, the artist has chosen here to evoke this sometimes difficult creative process through the ephemeral metaphor of the first cry of a newborn baby.

L'exposition, initiée et coordonnée par l'essayiste et commissaire d'exposition Patrick Amine, invite le spectateur à parcourir le domaine royal en suivant des installations in situ. Les « Nouvelles folies françaises », ou installations, sculptures, dialoguent avec le paysage du parc. Ces propositions d'artistes se lisent comme un hommage à Le Nôtre mais également comme une nouvelle poétique du jardin et de la nature. Dans le parc du château, un nouvel imaginaire contemporain invite à une nouvelle promenade. Certaines œuvres apparaissent telles des folies proprement artistiques et décalées, d'autres jouent le jeu d'une intégration parfaite avec le site.
Dans le château et musée d'Archéologie nationale, les œuvres introduisent un certain regard des artistes contemporains sur le domaine et en particulier sur Le Nôtre, architecte paysagiste, créateur du parc.

Plus que pour faire référence à l’oeuvre générale de Le Nôtre, l’artiste a choisi ici d’évoquer ce processus créatif parfois difficile à travers la métaphore éphémère du premier cri d’un nouveau-né.
